Lauren, you have been guiding us for much of our adult lives.  David did not know you well and had been at a meeting with you and asked about living in Concord.  You suggested we drop by your house when we were looking and we did one our next house-looking trip.  From that weekend, when Karen scooped up our otherwise shy one year old Lena so that we could look at more houses, you were on the prowl.  Unhappy with what the realtors were showing us, you went looking on your own and called and said, “I think I found Ilana’s house.”  Sure enough, she arrived and decided before entry that this would be our home.  After we’d purchased the house but before we had finished construction, we had David’s 40th birthday party at your Nashoba Road home. 

When we were later looking to get away from Massachusetts winters, you and Karen talked a reticent Ilana into spending winters in Sausalito and then talked the reticent owners of the houseboat next door into renting to us for several winters.  We recall this as a special time, with many shared dinners on the boats and (if it is possible to still remember this) at restaurants.  We went to theater, wineries, and museums together. We were able to watch your TV shows from our boat next door and linked to boats together for your birthday.  We have linked our lives and marked many celebrations, including bar/bat mitzvahs and one magical wedding.  

Both of you have been amazing connectors and take joy in making great connections.  You have introduced us to a huge group includes Nancy and Graham, Nancy and Phil, Robin and Rich, the Renaissance Weekend crowd and hundreds more.  You’ve shared you community openly and enriched our lives.

Throughout it all, we’ve come to rely on your sage guidance and heartfelt community building.  We can’t wait to see what happens in the next chapter of the Lauren story.
