Dear Lauren,

Celebrating Lauren

Sending loving wishes for a very happy birthday, a wonderful year ahead and many, many more candles being added to the cake in years ahead. When celebrating milestone birthdays, it is fun to look back on memories of how friendships have evolved. We remember being introduced to you by Nick Michael as we all worked tirelessly trying to get a proposal passed for a new Alcott School. While first attempts failed, it led to you successfully running for School Committee! Jim and Lauren deepened their friendship with long walks to discuss strategies in the business world.

Later we got to know Karen and the four of us have shared many fun times and meaningful conversations. Fond memories include visiting you on the Vineyard and enjoying drinks and appetizers while Karen got us all drawing on rocks. Shared dinners have included Japanese, Turkish, Tapas, and Chinese. We felt sad that our friendship would be challenged by distance when you moved to the West Coast to run Two Degrees, but a bicoastal friendship has thrived. We have delighted in seeing you on your return trips to the east and we have cherished our west coast get togethers. Taking the ferry to visit you in Sausalito is a beautiful adventure and we love sitting with you in your houseboat enjoying coffee or a glass of wine. A favorite memory is when you took us to the Presidio Yacht Club for country western music and dancing!

Travel has been restricted in the past year due to the pandemic, but we have kept enjoying connecting with you through Zoom chats and Zoom movie club. Here’s to hoping we can get together again in person in the not-too-distant future.

Happy Birthday Lauren!

With love,
Cindy and Jim Tenner
