Love from: Deirdre English
Lauren is one of my very favorite people and best friends! I first inherited his friendship from my late husband Don. The two of them were great pals and colleagues with much in common... even birthdays that were just two days separated, April 6 and April 8th. After Don's sudden death on April 3, 1996, Lauren was by my side in so many unforgettable and meaningful ways, even as he too was mourning Don's loss. I can't begin to describe what a great friend Lauren was, helping me and my family with wise counsel from very practical legal and financial advice to deeply emotional support. If happiness comes from generosity and extending kindness to others, Lauren must be the happiest of men!
In the years since, I know I can always rely on Lauren for smart, creative thinking on virtually any topic. He knows everyone and has been everywhere, and loves to make connections and solve problems – none too big or complex for his busy brain. He is compassionate, empathic and perceptive, and he thinks big, with a "why not?" attitude.
Some of Lauren's traits have even rubbed off on me, inspired as I am by his example. I think of him, and I pay it forward at times – trying to be kind and useful, as Lauren was to me, when other friends are in need. I can never meet his standard but I try! He has not only helped me in need, but truly made me a much better, more generous person. I can never repay Lauren for the gifts he has contributed to my life!
