I have treasured my friendship with Lauren for the whole of the 50-something years I have known him. He has never been less than 100% supportive of me in all that time, in good times and bad for me, always willing to help with his excellent advice and encouragement. He is one of the two kindest people I know, along with my daughter. He is also the upbeat, optimistic, positive, forward-looking person that parents and teachers hope a child in their care will become, but too rarely do. His curiosity is boundless and his interests are varied, making him interesting, stimulating and fun to be with or just talk to. Knowing him has enriched my life. Being able to pick up the phone and get access to his intelligence and just plain goodness will always be important to me, as it must be to his myriad other friends. Please wish him the best for me on his 70th birthday, and many more to come!
