Love from: Rudy & Trish
Lauren,
We met at Trish’s old restaurant, Accanto. It was a fun an interesting first meeting. Something about that made us feel like we’d be getting to know you a lot better. We then didn’t see you again until Alma and Ed became serious. Our next meeting was at our farm, where we also got to know Karen and Peter. Again, we very much enjoyed that day, especially knowing that in time we’d become family.
The best thing about going through this process called life is all the surprises that come your way that shape your life for the better. While circumstances are such that we haven’t gotten to spend as much time together as we would have liked over the last couple years, in welcoming Ed into the family we still feel like we have gotten to know you and Karen well. Kids, after all, are a true reflection of the love and care and teaching that parents lavish on them over the years (so of course your hand in creating this wonderful guy is easily visible). Ed’s curiosity about the world, his careful nurturing of friendships and family and his thoughtful and idealistic approach towards solving big problems - we see you and Karen in all of these incredibly special qualities.
It's nice sending you this note, but I’m writing this sentence with a big smile on my face because we are already thinking about our birthday note to you on your 80th. It’s going to be a great one, filled with lots happy memories and shared joys (you know, like grandkids!).
We hope you have the most wonderful 70th birthday.
Hello to the lovely Karen and please give Peter a hug for us.
Sincerely,
Trish and Rudy
