Love from: Susanna
So "one" memory is a tough one because there are so many.
Your Dad, and his sweet wife Karen, were the first people who welcomed me to Concord.
And they were the people who made Concord feel like home.
Right from the beginning Lauren and I would go on walks in the woods or hit tennis balls on my court.
These were always miraculous moments heightened by Lauren's exuberance, optimism and insights into
the problems of the world or our own idiosyncrasies. Lauren never judged but he did have firm guiding
opinions that helped me sort out any difficult moment. Of course there was always laughter
with Lauren, lots of it! And then there were the parties where Lauren introduced me to a variety of
fascinating eccentric people. Lauren even tried to get me together with his then 80+ year old friend;
like Lauren he was a gem of a gentleman. Lauren and Karen modeled for me the perfect relationship;
even at closeup as when hanging out in their kitchen all day or walking and cooking and exploring on MV.
There was banter wrapped in an embrace of tender loving caring. Of course this has been even more
poignant thru Karen's illness when Lauren left no stone unturned to be sure Karen had the best care.
And Karen who has become one of my dearest friends deserves nothing short of best.
What a family you have ED. It is such a gift to have them in my life, and I look forward to celebrating
Lauren in person before too long.
Love,
Susanna
